Temporary stairs

"Temporary stairs are a common sight at the construction sites. Whenever there is a need to overcome small or significant differences in level, Using wood or concrete structures may be difficult in set up and risky to use.

Therefore, our temporary stairs / walkway solution is the perfect substitute as they are easy to assemble, safe to use, and can be repositioned and moved at any time.

Additionally, the stars can easily be transformed into a gangway and are part of the TAS staircase solution.

The stairs meet the requirements of the PN-EN 12811-1:2007 standard regarding the class 1 carrying capacity (1 kN on 200x200mm surface) and are adapted for self-assembly with the use"

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you have a question? We will help you.

  • What components are included in the complete set of TAS excavation stairs for lease?

A complete set contains: stair module with anti-slip steps, two handrails with automatic adjustment, anti-slip grips at the top and bottom of the stairs, transport handles and anti-fold devices.

  • How does the assembly of the walkway/stairway look after delivery to the construction site?

The module with its individual components is delivered to the construction site with disassembled, folded handrails, what significantly reduces the amount of space required for transport and storage. As the steps self-level and have sockets for quick assembly of handrails, the installation is smooth and requires little time. It is necessary to read the operation and maintenance documentation and installation manual before installing and using the stairway.

  • Is it necessary to disassemble individual components to move the stairway to a different spot?

Thanks to its modular construction, the stairway system allows for a quick relocation to a new spot without the need to disassemble all of its components. Each module is equipped with transport handles for transport/change of location with the use of a lifting equipment without it affecting its performance characteristics.

  • Can the TAS stairs only be used for excavations?

The stair systems are designed to facilitate moving. It allows for safe communication between individual levels of excavations and civil engineering structures.

  • How is the system delivered to the construction site?

The basic components of the systems are stairs and handrails. The handrails are disassembled for the time of transport to the customer. Assembly consist in combining the guard rail and the stairway. Installation of the entire system is very simple and takes literally a few minutes, but before commencing installation and use one should read the operation and maintenance documentation and the installation manual.

  • What is the usable width of the stairs/walkway?

The usable width of the stairs/walkway is 708 mm.

  • Do the people installing the stairway must be licensed to install temporary civil engineering structures?

The stairway and walkway system is designed to be installed by the user and does not require any licenses. Pursuant to the safety principles described in the operation and maintenance documentation, the TAS system can be installed and used only by people who read the installation manual.

  • What is the max height of the stairway?

The temporary stair system consist of 6 basic modules having respectively 3, 6, 9, 12, 15 and 18 steps. The max height of an individual stairway is 3,6m. Construction of the stairs allows for assembling individual modules to adapt the stairway to one’s individual needs. When assembling modules to create one long set of stairs it is necessary to use additional equipment, that is fasteners and supports. To connect the modules, one needs to use special auxiliary components, that is fasteners and supports. Before placing an order, please inform how do you plan to assemble the stairway so that we can supply you with all the necessary components.

  • What information needs to be communicated to the person receiving the order to select the proper module/variant of the stairway?

The most important information needed to select the most suitable variant of the stairway is the depth of the excavation or height of the storeys, type of ground surface the system will be installed on, distance from the edge of the excavation and the inclination angle.

  • How do you assemble the TAS walkway?

Thanks to its modular construction, the TAS system allows making a temporary construction site walkway to ensure safe passage over excavations or ditches. The minimal length of the walkway extending outside of the edges on the both sides of the excavation equals D=500 mm. In case of the basic version of the TES walkway, the regulation from 0 to 50 degrees is possible for modules having from 3 to 12 steps. To use the longest variants (15 and 19 steps) as a horizontal walkway, one must also install the grating included in our system to strengthen their structure. In such a case the minimal length of the walkway extending outside of the edges of the both sides on the excavation is D= 700 mm. Additionally, the walkway must be anchored to the ground.
